A suite of patient materials for children living with or recently diagnosed with Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS). Helping them to understand what SBS is and providing them with guidance and advice.
Living with SBS can be very difficult as a child, so it was important to treat this with sensitivity and in a non-threatening way that would be accessible to the younger audience, whilst communicating the complex scientific information involved.
Developing a set of characters that represented the different age groups – each having their own range of facial emotions.
Diaries, emoji sticker sheets, workmats and plushies were put forward as part of the creative for the children to play and interact with, helping them gain a better understanding of SBS.
