Network Rail Employee Trackside Safety Video
[Insight / Script & concept development / Art direction]
A safety video to drive home the importance of following the correct safety procedures whilst working trackside – giving workers a glimpse into what life could look like without them.
The challenge
All of Network Rail's frontline staff are required to carry a valid and up-to-date Sentinel Card, that details their medical status and where they are permitted to work and to what ability.
The challenge Network Rail were facing was that the majority of their workforce weren't authenticating their cards, with some cases resulting in catastrophic consequences.
The objective
The brief was to communicate to frontline staff the critical importance of all employees swiping their competency cards upon arrival at work everyday.
The process and strategy
A deeper understanding of the target audience, identified that there was a theme of ‘I’ll be ok’ with regards to swiping their Sentinel card.
The video shows the impact loss has, on not just family, but also fellow colleagues. How would you feel about seeing the impact your death had on loved ones and friends?
The impact
The film was launched at a national staff conference as the end piece to a session on the Sentinel programme. This lead to an increase in authentication and checking of cards – saving lives.
